Sudhir Yadav is a full time member of the Public Grievances Commission, Government of Delhi since December 13, 2017. A 1985 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) Cadre, he has over three decades of experience with the Indian Police. Prior to assuming the office of Member (Full time), Public Grievances Commission, Mr. Yadav held several important and sensitive assignments across diverse locations and environment of the country and abroad, which included Director General (Prisons), Delhi (2016-2017), Director General of Police, Andaman & Nicobar Islands (2013-2015), Special Commissioner of Police –Traffic & Vigilance, Managing Director, Delhi Police Housing Corporation, Joint Commissioner of Police –Northern Range (2011-12), Administration and Special Unit for Women & Children. Mr. Yadav has had a long and illustrious career, having served as Dy. Commissioner of Police in North & South District of Delhi, Anti Corruption Branch and Intelligence Unit and was known for his effective administrative skills in enforcing Rule of Law. He held the charge of Addl. Commissioner of Police, Crime and Economic Offences (2003-2005), General Administration and Security (PM) (2005-2006). In all his assignments, he pioneered initiatives for effective delivery of police related services and efficient management of resources. He made innovative schemes for eliminating corruption and other malpractices and reached out and touched human lives through various outreach programmes and initiatives. Throughout his career, he maintained high degree of transparency in his official dealings and has a credible record of integrity and commitment to serve the society. He is known amongst colleagues and contemporaries as a positive, pro-active, multi-skilled and successful leader, who delivers beyond his brief in every assignment and invariably leaves behind a healthy legacy. With many innovations and firsts in public service delivery throughout his career, he touched many lives and delivered positive impact through outreach programmes and campaigns. Post the Nirbhaya rape case (2012), Mr. Yadav was designated as the Nodal Officer for “Women Safety in Delhi” by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Delhi, indicative of the trust and confidence generated amongs stakeholders, partner groups and leadership. He was responsible for the entire planning and execution of the police and security arrangements for Commonwealth Games Village-2010 which have been widely appreciated, he received commendations for the same from Home Minister of India and Lt. Governor of Delhi. His latest initiative, ‘Prison Art Festival – Kala Abhiyan 2017’, a weeklong workshop of painting and sculpture by prisoners from across the country, ‘Better Life School’ for young adult offenders, ‘Tihar School of Art and Art Gallery’ for training & display of prisoner’s art work, ‘Fashion Laboratory’ for Women Prisoners and ‘Parivartan Yatra’ of elderly and neglected prisoners which were appreciated for bringing in new perspectives in the correctional service reforms. Introduction of Cashless transations in Tihar, Delhi Prisons was another initiative under the able leadership of Mr. Yadav which was widely appreciated and it received commendations from the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India (30.12.2016). Mr. Yadav has had a highly decorated career during which in recognition of his continued outstanding performances, he was awarded the President Police Medal, United Nations Medal, Internal Security Medal, Commendations from Prime Minister of India and the Home Minister of India.
